November Challenge 2: 'on the road'

'On the road' is the challenge topic for haiku, senryu, tanka. The meaning can be taken as physical or psychological.

  1. flashes of color
    through the trees
    the highway

  2. disappointed
    tourists peer with hope

  3. autumn breeze
    leaves scurry
    across the highway

  4. everyday
the work gloves on the road
    getting less handy

  5. Mum's chitchat
    to keep Dad awake
    the headlights
    boring into darkness
    boring into boring

  7. to Tambo

    as if shadowing us

    across the endless plain
    far-away trees

    the long straight road

    under the massive sky

    our tiny hurtling car

    for speechless miles

    the dip and sway

    of telephone lines

    teaching her kid

    road savvy

    the nanny goat

    through the windscreen

    broken onto our laps

    the wedgetail eagle

    first glimpse

    of the next town

    its wheat silos

  8. singing in full throttle
    no-one to disturb
    on the road once again
