October Challenge 2 'work'

Write a haiku, senryu or tanka on the subject of 'work'. You can make it as specific or general as you like. It can be contemporary or reflect back on history. Use your imagination.

  1. 'say thank you'
    says her mother
    but thank you
    was in the child's eyes
    for the toy-maker

  2. sitting by the window
    she is humming softly
the baby smiles in her sleep

  3. enchanting
    the harp reaches out
    fingers engaged
    in years of diligence
    for this effortless sound

  4. day's end
    breaking of bread
    the miner's
    rejoice the ability
to taste the sweet crumbs again

  5. 12th of October
as the sun's rays carress us
    we lie together
    the leisure lunch waits
    our 35th wedding anniversary

  6. lying back
    gazing at the sky's
    drifting clouds
    this very difficult
    poet's work
