Haiku Bindii

The meeting on Saturday 6 August will be held at the Box Factory, 69 Regent St South, Adelaide, from 12:30 to 2:30 pm. Some members will be gathering in the kitchen for lunch at 12.00 before the meeting officially starts at 12:30. Please bring lunch if you wish to join us.  Lee Bentley will provide an interesting poetry activity for the meeting. Further details will be announced and emailed to members. Visitors are welcome. The Australian Haiku Society has established a new website that should open up new opportunities for Australian haiku poets to obtain information and keep themselves informed of current events. If you wish to become a member, you 'follow' the website. Australian Haiku Society

Bindii Japanese Genre Poetry Group  met on Saturday 4th June 2016 from 12 to 2pm at the Box Factory. Present:  Members Sara Abend-Sims, Lyn Arden, Lee Bentley, Dawn Colsey, Margaret Dingle, Julia Wakefield-Houghton. Welcome:  to new prospective member Pauline Smith. Informal presentations on the subject of haibun were made by Lyn and Julia. We all read out haibun from examples found in various publications by members, and then workshopped some by Sara, Julia, Lyn, and haiku by Pauline, Margaret and Dawn. The meeting closed at 2pm. Report on Bindii Ginko at the Adelaide Botanic Gardens 2016 Nine Bindii members met at the kiosk near the lake in the Adelaide Botanic Gardens at 11 am on 2 April for a ginko led by Margaret Fensom. On such a beautiful autumn day there was plenty to experience and participants immersed themselves in this beautiful place for an hour of walking or quiet contemplation before returning for the kiosk for lunch. We were fortunate to secure a table right near the lake edge and had duck and crested pigeon visitors to entertain us. After lunch, Margaret organized a ‘round the table’ discussion as members read out their haiku and tanka or their notes for poems and showed off the pictures they had taken. Lyn Arden has offered an email workshop to participants, which will start in a week from the ginko, to give participants time to polish their work.

Members of Bindii Japanese Genre Poetry Group and friends are invited to join us for a haiku walk in the Adelaide Botanic Gardens on Saturday 2 April at 11 am.  We will meet at the kiosk near the central lake in the gardens.
