Haiku Bindii

Five members came to the Ginko at Himeji Gardens on a very pleasant, sunshiny autumn afternoon. Margaret Fensom led the Ginko and was joined by Lyn Arden, Dawn Colsey, Maeve Archibald and Alicia Holbrook. Apologies were received from: Lee Bentley, Simon Hanson, Julia Wakefield, Josie Saccone, Athena Zaknic, Martin Christmas, Jill Gower and Karin Anderson. The plan Margaret had devised was to gather at the Box Factory at 1 pm and then walk through the side streets to North Terrace and the Himeji Gardens. Once there we dispersed for an hour’s walk through the gardens, during which we composed haiku and tanka or took notes for composition of the poems. After this we gathered in the sheltered area in the stone garden to share our work. The afternoon was profitable, judging by the amount of work members were able to share. Our meeting on Saturday  5 April will be a ginko, or haiku walk. We plan to meet at the Box Factory, 59 Regent St South, Adelaide at 1 pm and walk down the picturesque side streets to the Himeji Gardens. Ginko Leader will be Margaret Fensom. By then the Himeji Gardens may be showing some autumn foliage. It is a peaceful and beautiful spot at any time of the year. We hope that strolling around the pathways beside the ponds and cascades will stimulate the writing of much haiku and tanka.

The first meeting for the Bindii Japanese Genres Poetry Group for 2014 will be held on Saturday 1 February from 1 - 3 pm at the Box Factory Community Centre, 59 Regent St South, Adelaide. Maeve Archibald will present a haibun workshop. This is a follow up session for the haibun workshop Maeve presented in November 2013.

Haibun with Maeve Archibald. This will be our last meeting  at the Box Factory for 2013.  The meeting will be held on Saturday 2 November from 11 am to 2 pm.  The workshop will include a 30 minute lunch break.
